Located on Blackcomb Mountain in the resort of Whistler, the new sliding track is integrated into Whistler's long-term resort development plan. The Whistler Sliding Centre will be an excellent site to showcase sliding sports to the public. The Centre will be operated under the direction of the Whistler Legacy Society, supported by an endowment trust that was established by the federal and provincial governments as part of their 2010 Winter Games venues investment.
Nestled between Whistler and Blackcomb, Whistler Blackcomb formed through the integration of the two seperate ski areas of Whistler Mountain and Blackcomb Mountain when Intrawest merged with Whistler Mountain Ski Corporation in 1997. The two systems were fully integrated in 2003. Today Whistler Blackcomb has over 8,100 skiable acres, over 1.5 miles of lift-serviced verticle skiing, more than 200 trails, three glaciers, 38 lifts and twelve alpine bowls.
Explore over 1,200m / 4,800ft of bike park terrain with over 250+km of lift-serviced descending mountain bike trails. Something for every level of mountain bike rider. Gentle, banked cruisers , tight and twisty single track, steep rock faces, gnarly, root strewn lines, drop offs of all descriptions and more. The Whistler Mountain Bike Park also has 2 skill centers, a jump park, drop off park, and the Boneyard Slopestyle Park.
The Whistler Museum & Archives was founded in 1986 as a non-profit organization for the purpose of collecting, cataloguing and conserving artifacts and photographs of the pioneer history of the Whistler Valley. The Museum has since expanded to include information on the Resort Development and Natural History of the entire Whistler region.
The mandate of the Whistler Museum is to collect, preserve, document, and interpret mountain life for the benefit and enrichment of the public. The natural and human history, community events, and 2010 Winter Olympic Legacy of the Whistler Valley region are the primary focus for all collecting, research, and programming activities. As a cultural centre and forum for learning, the Whistler Museum develops innovative exhibitions, educational programs, and multimedia projects to enhance Whistler’s world-class reputation in the international mountain community.
Whistler Air was started by Mike Quinn in 1986 when Whistler was known primarily as a winter ski resort. It wasn't long however, before word got out about the fantastic summer adventures that awaited the enlightened traveler.
Over the years, Whistler Air has prided itself in being a valuable community member by working with the municipality of Whistler and the residents of Green Lake to make floatplane use off the lake work for everyone. The disastrous flood of 2003 proved once again the importance of the Green Lake floatplane base when over 400 people were flown out after Highway 99 was closed in both directions for three days.
With our new twice daily scheduled service to Vancouver, and our new daily rail/fly package in conjunction with the new Whistler Mountaineer Train service, Whistler Air looks forward to working with both the local community and the tourist industry to meet the needs of the future.
